description

The Hatley House is set on a rocky plateau with expansive views over the surrounding hills and mountains. From the approach, its steep gabled volumes emerge within the rural landscape, echoing the area’s agricultural architectural language.

The project reinterprets these vernacular references through three distinct yet connected volumes, forming a clear and cohesive composition. Organized around exterior courtyards, the house is divided into living, primary, and guest wings, each featuring double-height spaces and abundant natural light.

A consistent material palette—metal roofing, timber structure, and a concrete base—unifies the composition while giving the house a restrained, contemporary identity rooted in its landscape.
